Sergei Parashin (also spelled Serhiy Parashin) served as Deputy Director of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) during the 1986 disaster. He was on duty the night of the Reactor 4 explosion, working as senior party secretary for operations, and played a key role in the initial crisis response, clashing with plant director Viktor Bryukhanov over early damage assessments while recognizing the disaster's severity amid bureaucratic delays.
